Hindu Terror

The biggest buzz this week has been the emergence of Hindu Terror and the Hindu Terrorist - suddenly every blast across the country is now being investigated with a new dimension. So are Hindus going the Islamic way of resorting to killing, have we gone from being passive complainers to aggressors?

There is no sure shot of way confirming this, even though the general perspective is that this is very much possible given the community's rage that has been building up (remember Modi's "Every Action has an Equal and Opposite Reaction"?) with weak governments and unabashed minority appeasement. For the past few years with the booming economy, the middle class (and the common man) was more than happy to put religion on the back burner when compared to development, but now that the bubble has burst, there is a lot of discontent and unfortunately it is now rearing its head on the religious front.

The present situation has seen two particular groups under the spotlight - firstly the Hindu right wing and the BJP and secondly, the secularists and pro-Muslim groups. The former have been put in a tight spot because they have all along proposed strict action against Islamic terrorism and suddenly the tables have been turned with this new terror from its own backyard. The latter on the other hand suddenly find themselves given a breather and what's more an opportunity to cry themselves hoarse about the so called "unfairness" meted out till now. What is indeed surprising is the BJP's reluctance to take a firm stand on this issue - it should come out and state that it opposes terrorism irrespective of the religious label. If the Sadhvi and her accomplices are indeed guilty then they should be punished with capital punishment - there should be no tolerance for people who kill innocents, the most dastardly act of any kind. If Hindus are doing this then it is indeed shameful for the entire community, not to mention how low we have stooped to follow what only the Jehadis used to do till now. On the other hand what the secular groups should not follow is that we believe in the policy of "Innocent Until Proven Guilty" and nothing has been proved so far. Also even if we do consider the rise of Hindu terror it doesn't absolve the acts of terrorism committted by the Islamic fanatics - those still stand and there's no way one can escape those.

The weeks that come will tell us what the future of "Hindu terror" will be and also show us the true colours of all our politicians, most of all the pseudo secularists. Till then, let there be some more bashing - after all the elections are just round the corner!!
